If you are passionate about creating a meaningful impact and fostering inclusivity, Divya Sadan, an intentional community for adults with intellectual disabilities in Porvorim, North Goa, provides a unique and enriching opportunity. Our community, housed in a charming Portuguese-era residence donated by the Dr Graciano Reberio de Santana Family, is dedicated to creating a home and a sheltered workspace for individuals with disabilities.
At Divya Sadan, we believe in the inherent value of every individual, showcasing the strengths and contributions of those often considered vulnerable. Our shared life revolves around sheltered workshops, operating Monday to Friday, where participants engage in crafts and gardening activities, using their skills and abilities. The products from these workshops, along with the gardens produce, contribute to a modest income for our members with disabilities.
Background of the Project:
Divya Sadan is an intentional community where adults with intellectual disability and their assistants live and work together. We are located in Porvorim, North Goa in an old Portuguese era house which has been donated by the Dr Graciano Reberio de Santana Family. It has been a joy to make this beautiful building a home and a sheltered workspace to people with a disability.
Through our shared life we hope to be a sign to the world that the weak and vulnerable have something of value to offer. Our life together consists of two elements:
Sheltered workshops that run Monday – Friday where we invite people with disabilities to join us for the working week. Work includes the craft workshop where we make and finish items depending on our skills and abilities and gardening to produce vegetables and maintain our grounds. Sales from both the workshop and the garden provide a small income to our members with disability.
The Home – The rest of our life together involves running the home and the upkeep of the beautiful space we have been blessed with.
We also enjoy a good party – so celebrations are an important part of our lives – be it birthdays, festivals, welcomes, and even goodbyes.
Duties of Volunteers: During the week we welcome volunteers to our sheltered workshop programme which runs from 9.30 am till 1.0 pm and again from 3.00 pm 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday. We invite you to work with rather than for our members with disability on a range of products that include paper mache, coconut shells, door mats, greeting cards, candle making, etc. Twice as week we do garden work which includes sweeping, digging, planting, weeding, harvesting and food processing etc. In the mornings we have a time of recreation just before lunch where you could join in our singing, dancing or yoga sessions. On two afternoons young people with autism join us for a baking session and a socialization session including monthly outings. Volunteers would be required to support the team and members in these sessions as well. Occasionally we participate in pop up sales around Goa to exhibit and sell our products. If you are with us during a birthday or a festival you would be invited to celebrate with us!
Related to the home, you may be asked to help in cleaning, renovating, cooking and other household tasks.
The most important task of a volunteer is to build relationships, make friends and enjoy the time spent with our community members.
Depending on your skill set, expertise and interest, we also invite you to think of something unique you could offer the community during your time with us.

Very clean and organized with easy to follow tutorials Exercises and solutions. This course does start from the beginning with very little knowledge and gives a great overview of common tools used for data science and into more complex concepts and ideas.
