Deaf & Blind Children Care in Goa

If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children and young adults facing Deaf blindness, Multiple Disabilities, and other multi-sensory impairments, the Centre for Deafblind & Multiple Disabilities in Goa provides a compelling opportunity. With locations in both North and South Goa, this collaborative project, supported by dedicated foundations, is committed to offering comprehensive educational and rehabilitation services. The North Goa center, established in June 2012 in Saligao, currently serves 115 service users, while the South Goa center in Borda-Margao, operational since November 2019, caters to 65 service users. Joining this initiative means becoming an integral part of a community-driven effort to enhance the quality of life for individuals with unique needs, fostering growth, learning, and inclusivity.

The Centre for Deafblind & Multiple Disabilities, with locations in both North and South Goa, is a collaborative project that aims to provide comprehensive educational and rehabilitation services for children and young adults with Deaf blindness, Multiple Disabilities, and other multi-sensory impairments in Goa. These centers are supported by foundations committed to the cause. The North Goa center, located in Saligao, was established in June 2012 and serves 115 service users, while the South Goa center in Borda-Margao began operations in November 2019, catering to 65 service users.

Volunteers are instrumental in providing additional care, support, and expertise to improve the lives of individuals with Deaf blindness and Multiple Disabilities. The project welcomes international volunteers who can dedicate their time, skills, and compassion to assist in achieving the projects objectives. Volunteers play a vital role in providing education, rehabilitation, and emotional support to the service users, as well as in supporting families and educators.

Duties of Volunteers:

  1. 1. Educational Support: Assist in educational activities, including one-on-one tutoring and classroom assistance for children and young adults with Deaf blindness and Multiple Disabilities. Also preparing teaching learning materials and making the classroom child and disabled friendly.
  2. 2. Therapeutic Services: Provide support in therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, under the guidance of trained professionals.
  3. 3. Medical and Nutritional Assistance: Assist with medical and nutritional services as needed, ensuring the well-being of service users.
  4. 4. Family Support: Offer guidance and training support to families to equip them with the skills to care for their children and young adults with Deaf blindness and Multiple Disabilities.
  5. 5. Government Scheme Assistance: Help individuals and families avail all government schemes and medical facilities available at the state and central levels. This can be done with the checklist to see what schemes are being availed and which schemes can be availed by the student and the family.
  6. 6. Educator Training: Support the training of educators through in-service training and hands-on guidance to develop skills for educating individuals with Deaf blindness.
  7. 7. Vocational Training: Provide vocational training to young adults with Deaf blindness, focusing on employment and income generation activities and also be a part of pop up sales along with the adults with Deafblindness.
  8. 8. Counseling Services: Offer counseling services and establish support groups for parents and family members of individuals with Deafblindness.

Social Media and fundraising Support: Creating awareness through social media and using the platform to create reels, stories, posts as to create mass awareness on this unique disability. This platform can also be used to fundraise for the children with Deafblindness and generating funds for their medication, aids and appliances and other requirements.

  • 6. Washing machine ($2/use and your own detergents)​

  • 5. Air conditioner (Only in the living room and air-coolers in rooms)​
  • 6. Wi-Fi internet connection​

1. Minimum age
The minimum age to apply for a volunteer project is 18 years.

2. Minor Participants (If you are below 18 years)
In case you are a minor and would like to create an impact on the global communities, we need to receive a "No Objection Certificate" signed by your parents. (Please send the NOC through an email after submitting the application form, in case you are a minor.)

3. Guarantee of Participation
Submitting an application form does not guarantee your selection and participation in the project.

4. The volunteers have to follow the code of conduct in the destination country and projects.

5. The local team is responsible for the management of pick-ups, housing, weekend excursions, safety, and well-being of the volunteers, we encourage the trust-building between the volunteers and the local management.

6. You will be working as a representative of your own country and we would highly appreciate it if you leave a very positive impact on the community you work with.
